  • Qatar In-Flight Entertainment

    Four multi-platform apps were developed for Qatar Airways In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) Thales Gen4 and Gen5 platforms. These were developed as Android-native apps given that the SVDUs (screens) run Android. The InFlight Entertainment consists of Duty Free Shopping App, Destination Info App, News and Info App and Oryx Magazine App.

    Duty Free Shopping App

    This app allows passengers to browser the Qatar Airways In-Flight Duty Free catalogue with special offers and promotions. It also has a shopping cart feature to enable passengers to build their shopping list and to easily convey this to the cabin crew to complete their purchase.

  • In-Flight Entertainment shows orxy magazine

    Oryx Magazine App

    This app allows passengers to read the Oryx Magazine as well as a selection of other magazines in a screen-friendly manner.

  • In-Flight Entertainment shows the airline destinations

    Destination Info App

    Lists and describes the active destinations with pictures that feature some cities and popular places.

  • In-Flight Entertainment shows news and info app

    Technical Specs

    Memory usage will not exceed 100 MB, while running the application.

    This application uses OBB (Opaque binary blob) file format for content loading. This simplifies content loading as only the blob file needs to the updated. Oryx magazine application needs to be updated every month. we convert the magazine to html format files and update content using the OBB file.

    Passengers can browse through the application using Touch Passenger Media Unit (TMPU) and game controller

    Application shows flight altitude, destination and arrival places and the time to reach the destination
