Qatar Biobank

This is done by gathering biological samples and information on the health and lifestyle of Qatar’s people. Research based on the samples and information gathered, will provide insight into the reasons, why certain individuals develop specific illnesses. Qatar Biobank will make it possible for scientists to conduct research to address some of the greatest health challenges facing Qatar and the region, including cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, and cancer.

Through the website, the youth shall be able to easily create a profile and submit their application for the Akhlaquna Award while management shall be able to use the administrative functions of the website to manage the judging and rubric for each round of the winner selection process.

• Qatar Biobank is currently working on a research project to determine the extent of the impact of the Corona Covid-19 virus on the human body infected with the virus.
• Qatar Biobank measures the antibodies that form inside the body & gain immunity to the virus, and follow these antibodies to identify the period of time during which immunity against the virus lasts.
• Also, samples collected by Qatar Biobank will contribute to research on the discovery of the vaccine and treatment for Coronavirus Covid-19.

Qatar Biobank is a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, & works in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, and Qatar Genome.
